"This is absurd! Fill this up!", the teacher yelled. "Why haven't you done your corrections in the correct coloured pen? FILL THIS UP!!", he continued. Those who studied in Zhonghua and was around the same batch may have remembered this scene playing out almost everyday. Yeah, Mr Philip Yeo and his obsessive-compulsiveness with our mathematics work.
Click on thumbnail to read the news report. Some of you may remember reading about a news report about a reckless driver driving 200 metres while a man was hanging on his car bonnet. Just click on the picture above to read about the details. I remember reading about it in The New Paper, and I was thinking why would someone be such an asshole and scratch another person's car for no rhyme or reason.
Little did I know, the culprit turned out to be a former teacher of mine. It makes me wonder how do schools screen teachers nowadays, and how someone with no respect for people's properties and people's lives could end up being a teacher. Luckily, no student ever incurred his wrath enough to be treated as dangerously as the poor man on the bonnet.
I used to think he was just a strict teacher, not someone with scant respect for anything. Having said all these, I would still say that I still have some respect left for him, since he was still a teacher of mine, and even though I failed mathematics in those years he taught me, I still learnt some things from him. Especially that "You know what those rabbits did on their wedding night!" part. Classic.
Still, 6 months in jail for a man of his age and girth would be terrible for him. Maybe it's just karma for the detention he gave everyone; now he's detained too. I wish him all the best.
